SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR DIASPORA CHILDREN (SPDC)

  • Ministry of External Affairs has announced SPDC Scheme for year 2019-2020 offering 150 scholarships to children of PIO/NRIs, children of workers working in ECR countries studying in India and children of workers working in ECR countries but studying in India, for pursuing under-graduate courses in Indian Universities/ institutes.
  • The objective of the scheme is to reach out to candidates who are in need of financial assistance. Monthly gross income of the parents of the candidates should not be more than US $ 4000/-. Only fresh year students (1st year) in age group of 17 to 21 years who have secured admission in under graduate courses at Institutions such as NITs, IITs, Schools of Planning and Architecture, “A’ Grade institutions accredited by NAAC and recognized by UGC, Central Universities of India offering under-graduate courses and other institutions covered under DASA scheme are eligible to apply under the scheme.
  • The financial assistance to the extent of 75% of the total institutional economic cost (IEC) subject to a maximum ceiling of US $ 4000 per annum per student would be borne by the Government of India under this scheme.
  • The detail regarding eligibility, courses offered, institutions covered and other conditions about the scheme are available on SPDC portal ( www.spdcindia.gov.in). The eligible candidates have to submit the online application form and upload the documents on portal by November 30, 2019.
