His Excellency Mr. Amarendra Khatua Special Envoy of the Government of India for Sudan and South Sudan, visited Addis Ababa to participate the 4th Sudan South Sudan Consultative Forum meeting at Addis Ababa on 22nd June 2012.

At the meeting, the Special Envoy reiterated India’s strong support to AU initiative and mediation by AUHIP. He highlighted that time was of essence and both leadership must show statesmanship to resolve all pending issues on the table so that peace and stability in the region is restored and both countries avoid political repercussion and economic crisis. Both countries must not only continue negotiation process involving the roadmap, but must implement the proposed steps in a time bound manner and avoid “all or nothing” approach which would prolong the crisis. He further stated that it was time that the two presidents meet face to face in view of the failure of the talks at the Official and Ministerial level. India is willing to stand along the international Community and extend all possible support and assistance to both Sudan and South Sudan for facilitating satisfactory completion of the ongoing peace process.
