The Embassy of India welcomed 130 Ethiopian students selected under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Scholarship to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD studies in India.
In a landmark step for India–Ethiopia education cooperation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced during his visit to Ethiopia the doubling of ICCR scholarships for Ethiopian students—from 65 to 130. This year’s record intake reflects India’s strong commitment to investing in Ethiopia’s young talent.
Addressing the scholars, Ambassador Mr Anil Kumar Rai congratulated them and encouraged them to make the most of this opportunity. The students received guidance on studying and living in India, and the Embassy issued their student visas the same day to help them begin their journey on time.
The Embassy wishes all the scholars every success and a rewarding experience in India, while strengthening the enduring friendship between India and Ethiopia.
