Meeting with Executive Secretary of UNECA

The Indian delegation led by Mr. Dammu Ravi, Secretary (Economic Relations), Ministry of External Affairs, along with Mr. Mayank Singh, Joint Secretary (East & Southern Africa), began the day with a fruitful meeting with H.E. Mr. Claver Gatete, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa (12 June 2025).

Discussions centered around deepening cooperation between India and UNECA in key areas such as sustainable development, regional trade integration, digital public infrastructure, and capacity building. The interaction reflected a shared commitment to advancing the development agenda across Africa through inclusive, equitable, and people-centric strategies.

The meeting also resonated with the vision of the India-Africa Forum Summit, which continues to guide India’s engagement with the continent through partnership, mutual respect, and shared growth.

India’s long-standing partnership with UNECA continues to play a pivotal role in shaping transformative solutions for Africa and the Global South.
