Nowruz celebrations in Addis Ababa (27 March 2022)

Last Updated on March 31, 2022

Embassy of India participated at the joint celebrations of Nowruz in Addis Ababa. Indian community turned up in large numbers in their colorful traditional attires.

As part of the celebrations, trees were planted by representatives of Indian Embassy, India Business Forum and Indian Women’s Association. Indian community also participated in the cultural programme.

India is home to the dynamic Parsi community that has played a vital role in the development of India. Nowruz marks the beginning of the Parsi New Year and is celebrated with much fervour. People clean and decorate their homes beautifully. They dress up in traditional attires and visit fire temples to pray for peace and prosperity. For some of us, Navroz reminds us of the lip smacking Parsi food. Food forms a big part of the festivities as families gather to enjoy and bond over the traditional delicacies.
