Visa services for Somali nationals (29 Sept 2023)

Visa services for Somali nationals who intend to travel to India have been shifted to Embassy of India in Addis Ababa with effect from 1 November 2022. Embassy accepts visa applications between 0900-1230 hrs on all working days. They do not need appointments to submit their visa applications in the Embassy.

Embassy charges only visa fee & service charge for visa processing and no other payments are to be paid especially to people/touts outside the Embassy promising fast-track visa delivery service.   

Somali nationals should be physically present at the Mission while seeking visa and their passport should have Ethiopian immigration arrival stamp. In case of critical medical issues, close blood relations can approach the Mission with required visa applications on behalf of the patient.

Documents for Medical/ Medical Attendant visa:

• Hard copy of duly filled on-line application form along with two passport size photographs.
• Note Verbale from Somali Embassy in Addis Ababa forwarding the visa application and verifying the genuineness of passport details.
• Diagnosis of ailment from local hospital and referral letter.
• Medical invitation/endorsement letter along with e-mail forwarded from Indian hospital/doctor mentioning treatment duration, cost of treatment, passport details of the patient and attendants etc.
• Hospital must email the medical invitation/endorsement letter on addisababa@mea.gov.in from their official E-Mail ID mentioning cost of treatment. The letter should be signed by the authorized signatory of the hospital.
• Passport in original and photocopy
• Bank statement having sufficient money for treatment
• Oral polio (valid for 2 years) and yellow fever (valid for life time)
• Vaccination certificate (original).
