Last Updated on July 15, 2014 All Indian nationals who are residents in Ethiopia are required to register the birth of their children in the Embassy within six months from the date of birth. The applicants are required to submit the following documents for registration of birth of the children.
Note: Original documents are also to be submitted along with photocopies for verification. If registration is not made within six months from the date of birth of children, prior clearance of Ministry shall be required for registration and passport, which may take between three to six months. Birth Certificate will be issued on the basis of Birth Certificate issued from the local authorities in Ethiopia. Question: How to attest a Birth Certificate? Answer: Personal presence of the birth certificate holder (if adult) or one of the parent incase of a minor, along with the following documents:
i) In case of the birth certificate issued from India Notary public of the district where the child was born. ii) Home Department of the state/union territory where the child was born. iii) Ministry of External Affairs, Delhi or its Branch Secretariats located in Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Guwahati.
